Yancy to Yancy

Archive for January, 2010

Hello my fans, friends and wonderful people taking the time to read my blog.

Life is good. I just had my American Idol fix for the week…enough said. I’m headed back to Atlanta today for concerts and the first spring date of the Super Start tour. Our weathermen here in Nashville keep talking about cold, sleet and rain but fingers crossed I’m gonna miss it cause I’ll be in ATL! At least I’m hoping I don’t encounter too much more winter weather. Bring on the spring weather, that’s all I’m saying.

I’m in the process of recording a few new preschool songs that will eventually make it on the next “Little Praise Party” release. (Don’t get to excited though as they might not become available till 2011) but as soon as I finish this little recording session I’ll be hard at work writing, planning, dreaming and then recording a new CD that will release around September. I can’t wait to dig my heels in and create something new to experience. My experience and the listeners experience. Ah….for now, we’re approaching the release of a devotional I wrote for preteens that ties into the songs on the “Rock-N-Happy Heart” CD. This is “Rock-N-Happy Heart: The Devotional” which will release March 2nd in Christian bookstores. You can pre-order yours in my store for now. Yippee.

You might have noticed “Sidewalk sale” in the name of this blog that’s because I’ve put a few things on sale. I mentioned I’m ready for spring weather….I’m doing some spring cleaning so I’m extending the benefits to you. For a limited time order a few of my CD’s for $5 each. There’s no limit to how many you can get at that price so it’s a perfect time to stock up for gifts, prizes, rewards or even Valentines. Here’s some info on the CD’s that are on sale:
“Adeline Street'” A CD that’s pop/rock in style. I wrote and recorded three songs with Third Day’s Mac Powell that are on this CD plus another live favorite “This Is Love” and a song I wrote for my Mom “1305 Adeline.”
“Beautiful Sound” This is a worship CD that is mostly piano based. Half original, half covers including a cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”. If you’re looking for a more chilled out Yancy sound this is the ticket. A couple other favorite tracks from the record are “Before It’s Gone” and “My Forever”
“Big Weather Change” This is my first CD. So it’s officially like a collector’s item.

More exciting news is coming soon. For now, I must go pack so I can get on the road to Atlanta…..

Hello, hello everyone.

I feel good. You know how when a big heavy burden gets lifted off and you feel like you’re a bird flying and fluttering about like you’re suddenly weightless. Well, that’s pretty much how I feel. I realized that most of the past 6-8 months I’ve been planning, prepping or making a big project happen. All amazing experiences but pressure, deadlines and expectations can sometimes bog us down. I’m in between major projects for a few weeks which is lovely and thus why I suddenly feel each step is a little softer and the world is suddenly mine to experience first hand. So, yesterday, I celebrated by taking a day off. I strived for 100% email free but caved in a little so I think I made it to 98% email free. I had breakfast with my sister, shopped for some birthday gifts for a little three year old friend, lunch with my parents, afternoon shopping with my Mom and then dinner with my husband. It was great to stop and reconnect with my family. They are the most important people in my life. Sadly, my busy schedule oftentimes doesn’t allow for as much quality time to show them how much I love and appreciate them. Who do you need to stop and spend some quality time with? Who do you need to stop and show that you care?

This year is a big year for me. I’ll be turning 30 this summer. One of the highlights is I’ll be in Lexington, KY which has Graeter’s ice cream so it will be an amazing birthday treat. I’ll be spending my birthday at the Children’s Ministry Expo. You may not have heard about it yet. It’s not a conference. There’s no sessions just the largest display of children’s ministry resources ever. So if you’re looking for some new resources to help you this would be a perfect place to go. I’m sure there will be some great deals also. You have to love a sale! Check it out online at http://www.childrensministryexpo.com I’ll be there and don’t you want to wish me happy birthday in person? Yeah, I thought so….see you there!

Happy Thursday on into Friday…….

Wow, it’s been awhile since I last wrote. Christmas came and went. After a few Christmas concert appearances, (which were a blast by the way) it was time to slow down and spend some time with family. We were here at home in Tennessee and spent Christmas day at my parents’ house and then friends came to our home for dinner. It was a great day! My husband’s family then came from Oklahoma for a visit for a few days. We experienced great food, a park, the Art Museum and the Science Adventure Center. It was a busy couple days but fun ones. New Year’s was spent quietly at home preparing for a great year and a few days that I spent with Children’s Pastors and volunteers at the Children’s Pastors’ Conference. It was fun to re-connect with old friends, meet new churches that use the music I create. (It’s always fun to hear their stories of how the kids they minister to respond to the music. And it’s very humbling when they stop to say “thank you”.)

We are now fully into the thick of January. I’m finishing up final details on my upcoming “Rock-N-Happy Heart the Devotional” that will release March 2nd. It’s 12 weeks of devotions for preteens that are tied to the songs on the “Rock-N-Happy Heart” CD. I’m really excited about where this devotional will go and the many lives it will touch.

I hit the road next weekend and will be at Lake Ann Camp in the Traverse City, MI area for a winter retreat. Oh boy….winter weather here I come!

Matthew 15:8 says: “Jesus said, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.’”

Wow, have you been guilty of that? Make it a choice in 2010 to live your life fully devoted to serving Jesus through every choice you make. Give your heart completely to Him….if you do so, it will be an amazing year for you!

Love and blessings,
