The Importance of Friends

June 24th, 2010

Last night I went to a birthday party for a friend. It was a great time of celebration filled with community, laughter and great conversations. It reminded me that God’s Word tell us in Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

Summer is a great time to invest in your relationships. Between no school and vacations hopefully you have a little extra time in your schedule the next couple months. Take this time to invest in your relationships. Have a cookout, go get ice cream, go swimming or get some exercise with a friend. We need people in our life that will help challenge us. At times that’s encouragement or support. Others it’s to point out places of weakness where we need to focus and grow.

I’ll be honest I can be a bit of a loner. I love to go out to eat by myself and have some quality alone time with just me. Although I realize and understand for certain personality types that alone time is needed but don’t become your own victim by being a loner all the time. Reach out and be a friend to those in your life (whether they’re related to you or not). Be kind and loving. Show yourself friendly. (Proverbs 18:24) Go laugh and have fun. You’ll walk away refreshed and more complete as you let iron sharpen iron in your life.

Happiness and blessings my friends!

We received an exciting tweet last weekend! Yancy’s songs “Shout” and “With All My Heart” from the Rock-N-Happy Heart CD were used in worship at Hillsong Kids at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. As you may know Hillsong has provided some of the most beloved worship songs sung in Churches worldwide over the past decade. (Shout To The Lord, Might To Save, Take It All, I Give You My Heart) ¬†Yancy says: “It is a true honor that they would choose to use my songs in their kids worship services. My heart is leaping.” Yancy shared some over her songs live at the Hills campus last August when she was on tour in Australia. Here’s a few pictures from that trip:

So I’ve completed two weeks on the road doing summer events. Summer brings an interesting switch to my schedule. During the school year I’m mostly on the road on the weekends and home some during the week but in the summer it flips to week events and home on the weekends. Last week I was blessed to be a part of a VBX at Westside Church in Omaha. Their advertising said “this ain’t your Grandma’s VBS” and it was a blast singing and leading worship with precious elementary students as they sang at the top of their lungs. This week I did an event in Nashville for Crosspoint Church. An amazing church in our community that has multiple campuses and is communicating truth and life to families in a way that presents Jesus for how relevant He is in 2010. Don’t ever forget Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever! Jesus is just a relevant to us today as he was to Paul in the Bible or to your great grandparents a couple generations ago. Everything we ever could need we can find in Him.

I just completed a Camp KidJam (www.campkidjam.com) in Deland, FL. These are such fun events. I love getting to be a part of team and work with some awesome teens and college students from the Atlanta, GA area at these events. Now, I’m on a plane flying to St. Louis to lead a family concert in Illinois this evening. I’m so blessed that I get to be a messenger to challenge families and teach kids how to worship Jesus. He deserves all the fame, thanks, praise and attention we could ever give.

I’m nearing the end of the recording process of the new record. I have vocals on a couple songs left and then we start the mix. Please keep me in your prayers as I finish this project. I’m super pumped about it and can’t wait for you to hear the new songs.

I have many more summer events these next few months. I’m eager to be out there on the road lifting up praises to the One who deserves all praise. Be sure to look at the tour page on my site to see if I’ll be in your area this summer. Have fun in the sun. Drink some lemonade, eat some ice cream. Enjoy time with your family and friends. Happy summer everyone!

Love,
YANCY

P.S. It’s not too early to think about Christmas. I’m booking dates for my Christmas tour so request to have me at your church. Or email¬†jan@behindthevoice.com if you’re a concert promotor or Church staff to see how easy it can be to have your own Yancy Christmas concert at your Church!
