Finishing Well

December 31st, 2012

I hope you and yours have had a wonderful Christmas season. I can’t believe it’s already December 31st and the year 2012 is coming to a close. It truly has flown by for me. I can’t believe we stand on the horizon of yet another year. However, I’m excited, expectant and eager to see how God proves Himself faithful over and over again in my life. I know that He can open doors that no man can shut. I know that He can do miracles where we struggle to dream it’s even possible. 2013 is going to bring several new projects being released from me including two new CD’s you’ll be hearing about very soon. Sparrow will turn two in February. I’ll celebrate being married for ten years in August. I’m sure they’ll be a long list of opportunities and blessings to share this time next year as I reflect on all 2013 brought to the table.

Yesterday, I was helping lead worship at a worship night event at my church for our high schoolers. Throughout the night I kept thinking about finishing well. Over the past couple weeks I’ve known many people impacted by death. Some expected, some not. Just this week an extended family member and also a church friend both passed away prematurely. We truly don’t know how much time we have here on earth. I’m grateful that  these friends have gone home to be with Jesus. (I can say that with confidence because they had a relationship with Jesus and lived it out in their life.) As I sang these songs with a lyric about Heaven and us singing praises for eternity I couldn’t help but think of these faithful servants whose time here on earth is no more. Today, they stand in eternity singing their praises face to face to their Savior!

As we enter 2013 I want to run my race well. I want to run it in a way that I won’t have to give up or sit down to mend an injury. I want to run my race in a way to finish well and win the race God has set for me. I have a burning flame inside of me to make Jesus loud in my life and let others experience and know His love because of my life. I want to do the things God calls me to do. To live and honor Him each day. And when that Day comes and  I get to Heaven, I want to hear “Well done”.

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. The Girls Of Casa Josef

December 19th, 2012

Yesterday, I received a Christmas card in the mail that flooded my mind with memories. Five years ago I got to travel to Romania and go to a new place and meet some special people. Alot of my time was spent with the girls at Casa Josef. They themselves orphans but through Christ’s love and a group of warm hearted people are filled with joy each day. Although it’s sad that due to Romania’s laws preventing adoptions I see five years later the home environment hasn’t changed for this group of girls…I loved seeing a more grown up version of each girl I fell in love with during my visit. It was Christmastime so the girls received presents and we did Christmas activities including a Christmas program where I got the chance to perform along with the girls singing “Jingle Bells.”

Yesterday, I was reminded how blessed I am. How thankful I am for my family. And I was reminded of how God orders our steps and one opportunity leads to another opportunity. In this case it was the chance for me to travel around the world and go meet this special group of girls. This Christmas and for the end of the year if you’re looking for a place to give I would highly recommend the work that http://www.remm-ministry.org is doing. I myself will be sending them a check.

May your days be filled with wonderful memories of how God has been good to you. He is the greatest gift and He is the giver of every good thing. He has a plan for all of our tomorrows and todays!

YANCY

I don’t know about you but I had an awesome childhood. My Dad was in ministry and unlike many in those shoes I had a really great experience. One of the fondest memories I have as a child was going to ministry conferences as a family and having family friendships that are still part of my life today. One of those friendships is with Mark & Debra Harper. They’ve done kids ministry forever and I remember on a trip to their church back in 1991-ish me and my sister were greeted by a gift basket just for us in our hotel to make us feel welcome. Obviously, I’ve never forgotten that gift.  So today, as I write this I’m grateful for family friends. I’m grateful for great friends to my parents and how those friends have shown much love and support to me over the years as I launched and grew my ministry.

Mark emailed me asking me to help spread the word about an awesome deal they are running on some short films they’ve made for kids ministry. I was more than happy to return a favor and let you all know about this really good deal- 96 short films for $96 http://www.superchurch.com/ixxocart/catalog/Short_Films-2-1.html This is a great resource to enhance the messages you teach and give you some video tools to help drill the point and most importantly the truth of God’s word into kids.  Take a moment to check out this incredible tool for your kidmin. I think you’ll be glad you did.
