Last week in spite of the non-spring like weather we were having Sparrow and I celebrated big. We gathered over at one of my good friend’s house along with other friends and local homeschoolers to celebrate Easter. We celebrated and had fun all because Jesus is alive!
The kids made lots of fun crafts: bunny ears, cross wind chimes (wtih nuts and bolts), mason jar vases with pipe cleaner flowers
We all ate yummy food: fruit, hummus with bunny ear pretzels, sandwiches galore and yummy cookies
Mommy and child fun: Easter photo op, puppies and chicks
Kid sized fun: bunny hop (pillowcase race) and cottontail hunt in exchange for candy.
I had fun getting to do a little acoustic singalong in the front yard as the kids sat on blankets. We jammed out to some of my Easter songs: Hosanna Rock, One Two Three and had kazoo fun on The Springtime Song. (Little Praise Party-Happy Day Everyday) It was a blast! I love celebrating what Jesus did for you and me. We have so much to be thankful this Easter! Jesus is alive!
Happy Easter friends…Read my friend Sunshine’s full post on all the party fun here.
This past Sunday was Palm Sunday. I got to spend it at The Church Next Door in Columbus, OH. I lead the congregation is some praise songs while all the kids took part in a Palm Parade around the sanctuary. It was pretty awesome….seeing all those palm branches made me imagine what is must have been like that day as the people cried out to Jesus, “hosanna, hosanna!”
One of the most popular songs from the LIttle Praise Party series is “Hosanna Rocks”. Here a few testimonies/comments that were posted on facebook of how people used the songs this past Palm Sunday:
If you’ve read some of my past posts then you know one of my favorite parts about what I do is writing songs that people are able to sing. Especially since those songs are filled with scripture and worship helping connect that person to God. I LOVE that part of what I do. The past two years I’ve had the awesome opportunity to write, produce and perform songs for Standard Publishing’s VBS. Although I’ll meet only a fraction of the lives impacted face to face, the songs will be sung for many weeks, months and years of their life because music has power. It sticks with us.
Many times recently I’ve been asked if you can get just the music from “God’s Backyard Bible Camp”. And the answer is yes. Get the “Music Disc Set” here. It’s all about serving. Serving family, friends, community, world and ultimately Jesus! So, even if you have other curriculum plans for VBS these songs can help you with any series you do on these subjects year round. There are 8 music videos too that are pretty awesome. Wouldn’t that be cool to have kid friendly music videos to show your kids at church, school or home? Yeah, it’s a pretty cool option. So, please take a moment to check out the Music Disc Set.
I can’t believe that we are only a couple weeks away from Easter. Yesterday, I pulled out my Easter decorations to accessorize my home for the special day. As Easter approaches I thought I’d make a list of some of my songs that are perfect for you and your kids to singalong to as we celebrate that Jesus is alive and the amazing price that was paid for us on the cross.

Today is a big day. It’s the official release day of my new CD “Jesus Music Box”. It’s finally done and out there for you to hear, feel and touch. Part finish line, part new beginning, this afternoon I am reflecting over the past few months of hard work and heart that went into this music. I’ve known from a young age that I wanted to use music to spread the Gospel. That’s been my focus but a couple years ago something reignited in me. I grew up listening to lots and lots of Christian music. One of those bands was Degarmo & Key. Two guys playing rock-n-roll. I went to at least one concert of theirs and heard many of their songs. A couple years ago Dana Key from that band passed away and in the process I bought their greatest hits album as well as read several blog posts people I knew wrote about him. The thing that stuck out at me was something reoccurring in the posts. That the music of Degarmo & Key had helped shaped the theology of these listeners in their early days as a Christian. I remember asking myself how many people would be saying that about current Artists in twenty or more years. I don’t think many would (which is a whole other blog posts) but for me it made me want to be bold and not water down my lyrics or my faith in exchange for appearing to be cool. I personally believe you can be bold in your faith and still cool all at the same time. Over and over people wrote about how Evangelical D&K was in their concerts, how they stood up and preached at their concerts. As I listened to the truth of God’s word that is sung about time and time again in that greatest hits CD it reminded me of why I do what I do.
I believe Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
I believe God’s Word remains and it does not return void.
I believe God created us to worship Him.
I believe God wants to use us and our lives to tell His story.
I am bold in my faith. There is no question whatsoever about my music being Christian or not. It professes Jesus loudly. I am serious and passionate about making Jesus loud in my life and in my music so that all who listen will hear about the unfailing love of Jesus. I want this generation to be able to say that my music challenged them in their faith and helped them grow closer to Jesus. If that is what is said about me when my time on earth is done then I can rest easy in the presence of my Savior giving Him praise forevemore.
“Jesus Music Box” is not about being a closet or part-time Christian. “Jesus Music Box” is about celebrating how awesome Jesus is in our lives and letting others in our live experience His goodness through our lives.
I made a music video for “Not Ashamed” the first track on the new album. This song pretty much sums it up. Watch it now and share with your friends.
This past summer, we gave you many Yancy quotes for you to be able to pin to your boards on Pinterest!
